IFPN’s Strategic Vision: 2025-2027
As we enter this new era, our vision for our federation is based on three key pillars: innovation, inclusion, and impact.
Innovation: We are in a transformative era of healthcare, where technology, research, and digital solutions are reshaping perioperative nursing. IFPN will lead this evolution by:
Support evidence-based practices and emerging technologies in surgical care.
Expand global education initiatives to enhance professional development.
To promote cross-border research collaborations to promote innovation in perioperative nursing.
Inclusivity: Our strength lies in diversity. As a global federation, IFPN represents perioperative nurses from every region of the world, each with unique expertise and perspectives. Here is what we will do:
Create an inclusive and collaborative environment where all voices are heard.
Strengthen regional engagement to meet the specific needs of different health systems.
Promote equal access to education, vocational training and professional opportunities.
Impact: Perioperative care challengese, suchas labourr shortages, patient safety, and equitable healthcare, require collective action. To create meaningful and lasting change, the IFPN will:
Strengthen strategic partnerships with global healthcare organisations.
Advocating for the vital role of perioperative nurses in shaping health policies.
Expand leadership development programs to empower perioperative nurses worldwide.
Each of these themes represents a unique perspective on the future of perioperative nursing, but they all share a common goal: improving patient care, advancing professional knowledge, and fostering global innovation. As perioperative nurses, we lead with expertise, embrace change, and advocate for excellence in surgical care.
I would like to extend my sincere wishes to all IFPN member organisations for successful and effective congresses. I hope that these meetings will serve as meaningful opportunities to inspire, educate, and empower perioperative nurses worldwide as we continue to lead and shape the future of surgical care.
Kind Regards
Prof. Dr. Meryem Yavuz van Giersbergen,
President, International Federation of Perioperative Nurses (2025–2027)
